Swimming Fiasco

Since we have been living at the Reyburn's house, this is the first time, with my own kids, that we have lived somewhere that had a pool. Since the pool has been warm enough, guess where my kids are almost every day:

Yes in the POOL! Eventually I had to put my foot down and take a day off for their dry skin sake. We also have swimming lessons and a lot of times they want a double dose of swimming!

Another special treat this summer is that both kids can swim alone with their floaties, so that means that mommy can watch from the sidelines...knowing that I might have to jump in at any time though ; ).

So the decision to have a pool in the backyard is actually a good one. I was a little scared about having my own pool, but I think these guys are going to get plenty of use out of it. Glad we can be outside when it's so hot during the summer!

Fun in the Desert

There is only so much that you can do once it hits the scalding temperatures of over 100 degrees F here in Las Vegas. Thankfully, so far we have only hit the unbearable heats this past week, which is pretty good I think! If we can get through most of June spending time outside without being in water I think that we somehow beat the three months of determined home-bound, or vacation-bound summer here.

So, when the $10 circus ticket advertisement hit my email box, we were ready to go! In fact we invited a few friends along. Mateo, Nico, and Dylan all joined the fun.

The discounted tickets were for a show that started at 7:30pm, which I knew was late for the kids, but I thought one night they could stay up later, and Aaron took a good nap before, so no big deal.

We got to the show early and saw the elephants and horses up close. Nico enjoyed the jugglers. The show began, and little did I know it was going to last until 10:00 pm! I was really surprised that the kids made it all the way to the end, and enjoyed the show! It was actually a success! So glad! And we got out of there without them wining about not getting a $22 cheap light up toy! Yay!

T-ball Bliss

Connor is very picky about what he does. If he doesn't like something he is pretty vocal about what he want's to do and what he doesn't. Honestly I like it that way, that way I know that I'm not making him do what he doesn't want to. Here are some examples of activities he likes and not-so-much:

Likes:

Golf
Gymcats
Piano
Swimming

Dis-Likes:

Soccer
Tae Kwon Do
Pre-school (at least he never wanted to go)
Swimming Lessons

Thankfully T-ball has made it to the LIKES list this year! I think it was largely because Daddy was the Coach. I don't think he wants any other coach besides him now! Honestly, I think it really was a great bonding moment for both of them, and it is great to see as a stay at home Mom. I am constantly with them, and therefore the bond between the kids and I are so great. It's awesome to let some of that go to Dad finally.

Connor had a great season, and we learned how to get him to hit the ball well. You just say, "Connor hit the ball REALLY REALLY HARD" and poof! Magic happens! What a fun season!
